Human Impacts on Biodiversity

Illinois Learning Standards

Available November–early March.

Discover how human activity can alter local ecosystems and biodiversity. A supervised habitat restoration activity illustrates the impact of non-native, invasive plant species on local ecosystems. Students conduct a plant monitoring activity to learn how standardized observations and measurements help scientists monitor plant communities over time. Waivers and release forms are required.

Runs 3.5 hours (includes 30-minute lunch break).

For schools eligible for the Beyond the Classroom program, the program fee is waived and a transportation stipend is issued after the program date.
